A Fascinating History

Founded in Bowthorpe, the Clocktower has had rather a colourful life. It first opened in 1998 after a generous three quarter million makeover, transforming into the Clocktower Artists’ Fare, under the warm stewardship of Dena Etheridge and the Morland Brewery. It wasn’t just a pub, it was a meeting place, a landmark with a clock that reliably ticked above happy chatter and clinking glasses. Over time, it evolved into the Castle Carvery Clocktower we know today. A place of roasts piled high, Yorkshire puds like lifeboats, and children darting through the FunFort play area.

Bowthorpe & Norwich

Bowthorpe lies just west of Norwich, a delightful place, it’s a gentle mix of leafy walks, friendly neighbours, and that lovely sense of things being just right. There’s a hum of everyday life here, shops, schools, and parks where dogs and children chase the afternoon sun. Nearby, Norwich offers cobbled charm, soaring spires, and heavenly little cafés. And if you fancy a breath of fresh air, the River Wensum meanders close by, or the Norfolk Broads and living coast beckon with their wild, wistful beauty, coastal marshes and villages.
